Unicaja was unable to secure a victory in its Liga Endesa home opener, falling to La Laguna Tenerife 75-80. The team struggled with a poor start to the fourth quarter, during which they gave up a 0-10 run that proved decisive for the black-and-gold team’s victory, despite the home team’s attempts at a comeback. Kendrick Perry was Unicaja’s top performer (23 points, 4 assists, 23 PIR).
Javi Pérez de los Reyes' team kicked off the Women's Challenge League with a hard-fought victory on the road against Domusa Teknik ISB after a closely contested game that was decided in overtime, 83-85. Sofía Galerón led the Málaga team in overtime, and Savannah Samuel scored the game-winning basket.
Unicaja Alhaurín de la Torre was unable to secure its first victory in the Liga U and lost 101–59 on the road against Joventut Badalona. It was a tough game in which the Málaga team held its own in the first half but was undone by a third quarter in which the home team shot exceptionally well, ultimately deciding the outcome of the game.
Unicaja head coach Txus Vidorreta analyzes the team’s home opener, which will take place this Saturday against La Laguna Tenerife (7:30 p.m., broadcasted by DAZN, #Vamos on Movistar+, and Unicaja Baloncesto Radio). The coach delves into the squad’s physical condition and highlights the challenge posed by an opponent he knows well, having coached them for 10 seasons.
