Unicaja strikes first in the series (72-69)

Unicaja won the first game of their BCL quarterfinal series against a tough ALBA Berlin side (72-69). The team controlled the pace of the game from the middle of the first quarter, but had to overcome the tenacious German team, who managed to tie the game with two and a half minutes remaining, before closing out the game in the final stretch. Justin Cobbs was Unicaja's top performer with 13 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a 17 PIR. The next game is on Wednesday, August 8th in Berlin (8:00 PM).

It will be a reunion with a team against whom they will face another battle in European competition, and against whom they will seek to capitalize on home-court advantage to move closer to the Final Four.

Unicaja puts up a fight at the Palau Blaugrana (97-91)

Unicaja fell to Barça 91-91 in a game that was decided in the final minutes. The team overcame the absences of Rubit and Webb III and an early deficit, having trailed by as many as 18 points, to tie the game, though it wasn't enough to contain Barça's excellent outside shooting. Olek Balcerowski was the team's best player (18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 24 PIR) in a game where Barça's Nihad Djedovic (13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 20 PIR) and Emir Sulejmanovic (19 points, 5 rebounds, 17 PIR) also shone.
