Unicaja claimed the Xacobeo Trophy after defeating Monbus Obradoiro by a narrow margin of 84 to 86 at Fontes do Sar. The team had to give it their all to overcome the Galicians, who—despite the visitors’ lead—were able to tie the game with 18 seconds remaining, with Cameron Hunt proving decisive from the free-throw line to secure the victory. Willy Hernangómez was the standout performer (21 points, 10 rebounds, 25 PIR). With this win, the preseason concludes after six games, with a record of five wins and one loss.
Unicaja is heading to Galicia, where it will compete in the Xacobeo Tournament against Monbus Obradoiro this Sunday, September 20 (12:30 p.m., broadcasted by the Monbus Obradoiro´s YouTube channel). The team will wrap up its preseason at Fontes do Sar against the Galician squad, which is returning to the Liga Endesa this season.
