The 2026-27 Champions Cup is already underway! This Wednesday in Barcelona saw the presentation of the second edition of a competition for people with intellectual disabilities organized by the acb Foundation, whose main new feature will be the participation of 20 teams, and which will once again feature Unicaja Baloncesto.
The 2026–27 Champions Cup season will retain the 18 clubs that participated in the first edition, now joined by the two acb clubs that earned promotion.
All of them will compete in the tournament, divided among three venues. To kick things off, on October 24 and 25, the La Plana arena in Badalona will host the first round of the tournament, featuring Club Joventut Badalona - Fedamar, CB Gran Canaria Proyecto Suma, Fundación Bilbao Basket, UCAM Murcia CB, MoraBanc Andorra - Escaldes Engordany, and San Pablo Burgos Fundación Aurora.
Next, it will be Unicaja’s turn in the second round of the Champions Cup, which will take place in Zaragoza on March 13 and 14 in a group that also includes CB Casademont Zaragoza, Addin Fundación CB Canarias, Fundación Real Madrid, Kids&Us Manresa, Baskonia, Clínica Mi Novaliança Lleida, and Valencia Basket-Aderes.
The 2026-27 Champions Cup will conclude on May 8 and 9 in Santiago de Compostela, with the remaining six teams participating: Monbus Obradoiro Genuine, Fundación Breogán, Leyma Básquet Coruña, Fundació Barça Genuine, CB Sierra Nevada Natura Ability Granada, and Fundació Basquet Girona.
Following remarks from institutions and sponsors, it was time for the stars of the show: the players who will compete in this season’s Champions Cup. Twenty of them—one from each team—were present at the event, where they expressed their enthusiasm for this competition launched by the acb Foundation, whose main goal is to raise awareness of inclusive sports and use basketball as a tool for integration.
The traditional group photo brought this first event of the 2026–27 season to a close. Everything is now set for tip-off.
