Kalinoski, in the top three for three-pointers in Europe with Unicaja

Yesterday, Tyler Kalinoski became the third player in Unicaja’s history to reach this milestone for three-pointers scored in European competitions, with a total of 126 three-pointers. The Cincinnati-born shooting guard continues to add to his illustrious record whilst wearing the Málaga shirt, now in his fifth season with the club.

Unicaja’s victory on the road against BK Kvis Pardubice kept the Malaga team undefeated in the Basketball Champions League regular season. It also allowed Tyler Kalinoski to further cement his legacy as one of the greatest shooters in Malaga’s history. With the two three-pointers he made yesterday at the Enteria Arena in the Czech Republic, Tyler Kalinoski has climbed to third place on Unicaja’s all-time list of three-point shooters in European competition, with no fewer than 126 three-pointers made. With this total, he has, for now, surpassed his teammate Alberto Díaz, who has 125 three-pointers in European competitions. It’s worth noting that the Málaga captain, who was in Pardubice yesterday as part of the roster, continues to recover from the injury he suffered in the first official game of the season.

In Unicaja’s all-time European three-pointers leaderboard, Berni Rodríguez ranks first with 203 three-pointers, followed by Adam Waczynski in second place with 173. It’s also worth noting that among this all-time top 3—comprising Berni Rodríguez, Adam Waczynski, and Tyler Kalinoski—Unicaja’s current shooting guard has the highest average number of three-pointers per game, at 1.8 per game. Rodríguez averages 1.07, while Waczynski averages 1.78.

If we look at the three-pointers made by Unicaja players across all competitions, Berni Rodríguez leads with 651, Alberto Díaz is second with 498, and Serguei Babkov is third with 425. In this ranking, Tyler Kalinski currently sits in sixth place with 384 three-pointers made while wearing the Málaga jersey.

Finally, it should be noted that in the Basketball Champions League’s overall standings, Tyler Kalinoski ranks sixth in three-pointers made, with 170, just 6 behind the next player, the Czech Vojtech Hruban. It’s worth noting that Kalinoski, in addition to his time with Unicaja, played in the BCL for the Antwerp Telenet Giants of Belgium and Teksut Bandirma of Turkey.

Interestingly, the player who has made the most three-pointers in BCL history also has a history with Málaga: Finnish shooting specialist Sasu Salin, who holds the all-time record in the continental competition with a total of 207 three-pointers.

With these numbers, Tyler Kalinoski continues to cement his legacy as a Unicaja shooter and as one of the most closely guarded shooters by opponents who have faced our team over the past five seasons.
