Unicaja sets a European Record from beyond the arc

This past Tuesday, Unicaja made 19 three-pointers in its victory over Pallacanestro Reggiana (99-94), a figure that marks the club’s record in this category across all European competitions it has played in. Let’s take a look at the stats from a historic night!

A Historic Barrage of Three-Pointers at the Carpena! Last night, Unicaja defeated Pallacanestro Reggiana 99–94 in the team’s home debut this season in the BCL. This victory was fueled by the 19 three-pointers made by Txus Vidorreta’s squad, setting not only the club’s BCL record but also the best mark achieved in any European competition the team has ever played in.

Matt Thomas (6 three-pointers), Amine Noua (5), Tyler Kalinoski (3), Kendrick Perry (3), Jonathan Barreiro (1), and Simonas Lukosius (1) were the architects of this historic feat, leaving Unicaja just two three-pointers shy of tying the BCL record—held by Brose Bamberg against Casademont Zaragoza with 21—set in March 2021.

It’s worth noting that Unicaja’s record for three-pointers made in the various European competitions it has played in is as follows: 18 in the EuroCup (at home against FIAT Torino in December 2018); 17 in the EuroLeague (on the road against Panathinaikos in March 2009); and 14 in the Korac Cup (also away from Málaga, against Le Mans Sarthé Basket in January 2001). Now, with last night’s 19, the team has set a new European record in the BCL.

Despite this high total, the club’s record for three-pointers in all competitions remains just out of reach, as the Malaga team scored 23 in the Liga Endesa against Real Madrid on March 23, 2025—a game that ended in a 105–107 victory for Real Madrid.

Regarding the 19 three-pointers against Pallacanestro Reggiana, there are several other noteworthy statistics. Two players (Matt Thomas and Amine Noua) made 5 or more three-pointers, tying a record that had been set four times before. And if we broaden the scope, four players (Perry, Kalinoski, along with the aforementioned Thomas and Noua) made 3 or more three-pointers, tying a record that had already been set five times previously.

Not to be outdone was the star of the night from the perimeter: Matt Thomas. The American shooting guard made 6 three-pointers, tying last night’s record for three-pointers by a single Unicaja player in the BCL—a mark previously held by Dylan Osetkowski and now shared with Thomas. He is, however, still some way off the all-time record for three-pointers by a Unicaja player, held by Thomas Kelati, who sank nine three-pointers in March 2009 against Lottomatica Roma in the EuroLeague.

These are the stats from a night of European records for Unicaja, this time from beyond the arc.
